“It is not our differences that divide us, it is our inability to recognise, accept and celebrate those differences.” – Audre Lorde.
I was recently thinking about the above quote by Audre Lorde, which I feel lends to the status quo of racism in our society. Our society continues to struggle with the acceptance and embracing of racial characteristics of skin colour, nationality, and ethnic origins.
Talking about racism can be extremely uncomfortable and often draws much defensiveness or a loud silence. Communication is key to having a better understanding and an increased knowledge and awareness. Let’s continue to interact and have conversations…
Reflection is key to enabling you to check in with your inner self to see your inner truth and to challenge yourself. Reflection will increase your ability to improve your practice.
Let us talk about race and racism; it is not rocket science. Racism is on our doorstep and stares us in the face from day to day. Embrace cultural diversity. Decide to be anti-racist…
Good Luck!
